My journey in design started at 15, working alongside my dad to renovate homes and learning not just how spaces look but how they function. That early foundation shaped everything: a deep understanding of flow, proportion, and the integrity of older homes, along with a lasting appreciation for thoughtful restoration.
In my twenties, I built a career in accounting and finance, working in public accounting and later in the investment industry. At the same time, I was buying and renovating my own properties, eventually completing eight full home renovations. What began as a personal passion quickly gained momentum, as others were drawn to the way I approached space: with both creativity and strategy.
As demand grew, I began taking on client projects, and before long, I had a full design business and stepped away from corporate life to run my firm full-time in Milwaukee.
After relocating to Seattle, I briefly returned to the corporate world as a CFO for a real estate investment company but it clarified what I already knew: I’m at my best building something of my own. While continuing to book design work, I made the decision to leave that role and fully commit to my next chapter launching The Shop.
Founded in 2025, The Shop was born from a vision of creating a small, creative studio where clients and customers can bring their home dreams to life. Whether sourcing those final, hard-to-find pieces that complete a space, discovering a unique and meaningful gift, or building something from the ground up, the goal is to offer a thoughtful, highly personal approach to design that meets people wherever they are in the process.
Today, my work is rooted in that unique blend of experience: construction knowledge, financial insight, and an intuitive approach to design. I create spaces that are not only beautiful, but highly functional, deeply considered, and built to last.
MADELYNE ILIFFE
JR DESIGNER
Madelyne began her design journey in 2025. After receiving her certification from the Heritage School of Interior Design, she joined The Shop at the beginning of Autumn 2026. She is currently pursuing a Master certification.
Madelyne started her career at a locally founded and nationally recognized luxury retail corporation, where she gained valuable experience through servicing and styling their comprehensive clientele in the greater Seattle area and beyond. After a few years spent in leadership roles, she decided it was time to take the leap into the world of interior design.
Born and raised here in Seattle, WA, Madelyne's passion for aesthetics and eye for beauty were cultivated over years of growing up in the Pacific Northwest. Being surrounded by the expansive natural landscapes of an increasingly modern city, paired with experiencing culture from travel around the world, helped to refine her understanding of the relationship between what grounds us and the innovations that keep us excited and wanting more. Having been immersed in the sphere of designer style and fashion, she resonates with the layers that build a lifestyle of refined luxury, personal expression, and meaningful functionality.
Madelyne knows spaces should both look and feel inspiring. Her love of historical architecture is strengthened by her belief that day-to-day life should support our ways of living; she values restorative design while recognizing how the implementation of technology and thoughtful redesign can be the solution to streamlining routines.
Currently, Madelyne is developing her skills and gaining foundational insight into interior design while supporting Erin and The Shop in our goals of bringing client dreams to life.
